    L.O.T.V. Birthday Card

Hi everyone, today I have a couple of cute birthday cards for you all! It’s Lili of the Valley’s 13th Birthday (http://www.liliofthevalley.co.uk/) and I thought I would sent them a card since I love their stamps. To start this first card I stamped three of the images from the L.O.T.V. stamps sets called “Birthday - Trio” and “Tea for Two - Trio” on some Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface paper with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder afterw

“Grace’s Little Note” with Kennedy Grace Creations

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! Today I have my third guest design post for you featuring a stamp set from Kennedy Grace Creations (https://kennedygracecreations.blogspot.nl/) For this fun and colourful card I started by stamping one of the pretty flowers from the “Grace’s Little Note” stamp set from Kennedy Grace Creations repeatedly with Memento’s “Rich Cocoa” ink on Copic friendly paper. I’m still new at colouring with Copic Markers and I haven’t got many colou

Hi everyone! I’m very excited to be sharing a card with you today that I made as a guest designer for Kennedy Grace Creations (https://kennedygracecreations.blogspot.nl/)! One day I was surfing the web for inspiration and I came across a gorgeous card and the maker used one of the stamp sets from Kennedy Grace Creations. I wanted to try them out myself and here we are. This company is shipping internationally, all you have to do is email Michelle, the owner of Kennedy Grace C

    Metallic Birthday Card

Hi everyone! Today I have a metallic guy card for you all. I love to use different textures on the backgrounds of my guy cards to create something interesting for the eye to look at, especially when the rest of the card is kept fairly simple. I started this card with some dark turquoise (leaning to green) card stock that I cut to the right size with a square Crea-Nest-Lies XXL die and embossed with an embossing folder with a metal plate design (unknown brand, you can use what

Whimsy Stamps “Peace” with Zig Clean Color markers

Yay, it’s Saturday! Today I wanted to create another card using Whimsy Stamps' “Peace”, since she is so darn cute and I’m not done playing with her. I started by stamping this image on Strathmore “Bristol Smooth surface” paper with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink, using my MISTI, and clear heat embossing afterwards. I always do that when I know I’ll be adding water to my paper: this makes the lines of the stamped image stay crisp and black, no matter how much water I ad. Then I to

Whimsy Stamps new release February 2017: “Hope”

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing another card with you that I made as a guest designer for Whimsy Stamps (https://whimsystamps.com/)! The new February release is gorgeous and I just love the new stamps designed by Sylvia Zet, especially the one I’ll be showing you today, because, I’m a sucker for fairies! So, today I will show you how to make this card that features this cute new “Hope” fairy stamp. I also used several other new Whimsy products (you see the purple and white bac

Hi everyone! I’m very excited to be sharing a card with you today that I made as a guest designer for Whimsy Stamps (https://whimsystamps.com/)! The new February release is so much fun and I just love the new stamps designed by Sylvia Zet. Today I will show you how to make this card that features the new “Peace” stamp. I also used several other new Whimsy products. So, let’s get started! I first stamped Peace with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink on Strathmore “Toned Tan” paper. Th

Cute Fox on Branch with coloured pencils

Hi everyone, today I have a fun card for you involving coloured pencils on tan coloured paper! I started this card by stamping the Wild Rose Studio’s stamp called “Fox on Branch” on Strathmore “Toned Tan” paper with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink. Next I coloured the image with my Bruynzeel coloured pencils. If you’re not familiar with this brand : it’s a Dutch brand and these coloured pencils are used by adults and children alike, you can buy like 45 pencils in a tin for about 1

    Valentine’s Day 2017

Today I have a Valentine’s Day card for you. This card is made for my boyfriend and that’s why I tried to make it not too cute or flowery but with hearts, because well, it’s Valentine’s Day after all! For this card I used the Newton’s Nook Designs “Newton Loves Coffee” stamp set because the sentiment fitted the Valentine’s Day theme and my boyfriend loves coffee! I already know exactly what he is going to say about this card and that is that I DON’T drink coffee (so I can’t s

    Whimsical card with Penny Black

Hi everyone, today I have a very whimsical card for you! I started this card by stamping one of the cute fairies that come is the “Fairy Sweet” stamp set from Penny Black on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface paper with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink. After stamping I heat embossed with clear embossing powder so that the lines stay very crisp and black even if I ad water to the image. Then I started colouring with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I love these markers, they a

    Calender Month Series - January

Hi guys, today I’m going to start a new fun series that will continue this entire year! We moved into our new house in May last year. It’s not a big house but it has enough rooms that my stepson could have his own place (which is important for a teenager) and my boyfriend wanted to use the attic for his sports and his computer and camera stuff. So that left one unused room and I made that my craft room. For some time now I had the idea to make a birthday calender to hang in m

WPlus9 birds with Zig Clean Color Markers

I hope you had a great start of 2017 and now that the first work week is over we can have some fun creating! Today I have a fun card for you featuring the WPlus9 stamp called “A New Day”. I though this stamp would be great in combination with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. If you’re new to these Zig Markers then you should know that they aren’t really markers in the sense that they don’t have a felt tip, these markers have an actual brush tip, more like you’re paintin

LOTV Under the Bonnet with Copic Markers

First of all I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Creative 2017! I hope you had lots of fun over the holidays and that you could spent your time with your loved ones. My boyfriend and I went to the beach over Christmas. It's an approximately 2 hour drive for us and we don't go there very often, about once or twice a year. The weather was nice, very windy but warm for this time of year. I included a couple of pictures for you so you can get an idea of what it looked li

    Newton Unwinds with Copic Markers

My favourite colour is purple but somehow I rarely use it on cards, isn't that funny? So, today I have a card for you with purple elements on it! I started with the cute kittens from the Newton's Nook Designs "Newton Unwinds" stamp set (one of my new goodies after the Black Friday sales). Because I wanted to use my new Copic Sketch markers I stamped with Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink. Where do I start on the Copic markers subject: I guess I'll start by saying that I have almost

Boy Birthday Card with his Name on it

Today I have a fun boy birthday card for you. I especially love how the sky turned out on this card! This project started out with a piece of white card stock, in the right size, that I planned to make the sky-background on. After finishing the sky my left hand was almost as blue as the sky but fortunately distress inks react well with water! Working on my Ranger Craft Sheet I started adding ink to the white piece of card stock from the middle outwards with my lightest colour

A Christmas card for the men in your life

As mentioned in my "Summary of Christmas cards for 2016"-post from yesterday (http://www.makeyourlifecolourful.com/single-post/2016/12/17/Summary-of-Christmas-cards-for-2016) I would do a guy appropriate Christmas card - post. There is not to much bling on this card but you can debate if a guy might like this sort of image. I personally love the LOTV stamps for men. In this card I used the "Festive Lantern" one. Frankly, I LOVE a lot of the LOTV stamps. You should really chec

Summary of Christmas cards for 2016

Since I started this website fairly recently I thought it to be best for this year to do a summary of some of the Christmas cards that I made (a “Christmas card for the men in your life” is not included in this post, see under Tab “Cards for Men” to find the post on that card or click http://www.makeyourlifecolourful.com/single-post/2016/12/17/A-Christmas-card-for-the-men-in-your-life) I will mention how to make a certain card and what materials I used. Cards for Men

As I explained in my "Introduction" (http://www.makeyourlifecolourful.com/single-post/2016/12/01/Make-Your-Life-Colourful---Handmade-Cards---Introduction) I find it a little more difficult to come up with fun card designs for men then designs for cards for women. Too much bling is considered not guy appropriate but I don't want to make a card that feels boring to me (I don't know about you but for me a little bling is a nice way to finish of a card). During the last couple of

A stamping tool review: the MISTI

There are different stamping tools to get us the perfect stamped image in exactly the right spot. I have, for example, heard of and seen in YouTube-videos Inkadinkado's Stamp-A-Ma-Jig but I have never tried this one myself since I don’t have wood mounted stamps. I guess that it would come in handy for some EZ-mounted stamps as well. And of course there are the regular see through acrylic blocks that you can put your clear stamps on and see through them (hover your head straig

A die-cut and embossing machine: for me the Sizzix Big Shot

When you already have a die-cut and embossing machine and assuming you know how it works, this post is not for you. When you are debating if a die-cut and embossing machine is something for you, if you really “need” it, if this kind of machine is worth the cost, then this post is for you! Which one? Now, there are several brands that sell die-cut and embossing machines: without wanting to make a complete list, you have, for example, the Cricut Cuttlebug, the Sizzix Big Shot,
