LOTV Under the Bonnet with Copic Markers

LOTV Under the Bonnet

First of all I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Creative 2017! I hope you had lots of fun over the holidays and that you could spent your time with your loved ones. My boyfriend and I went to the beach over Christmas. It's an approximately 2 hour drive for us and we don't go there very often, about once or twice a year. The weather was nice, very windy but warm for this time of year. I included a couple of pictures for you so you can get an idea of what it looked like.

New Years Eve my parents-in-law came over to celebrate with us and stayed the night and today my parents are coming over for lunch. So it's a busy weekend with lots of fun. Tomorrow work starts again!

I also found some time to make another guy card! So, let's get started.

For this card I used the LOTV stamp called "Under the Bonnet" which was released not that long ago. The person this card is for is a car mechanic so I felt this image was very suitable for him. I stamped the image with Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink and coloured with my Copic Sketch markers. Since I don't have that many colours yet (I just started out with Copic colouring) I was fairly limited in the colour-choice I had but it also challenged my creativity.

The colours for the first card are inspired by the colour-combinations I made when I was testing Copic-colours for the Newton's Nook card from a couple of days ago. I wanted to make a card with a vintage/sepia kind of feel, but while colouring I concluded that I didn't have enough brown tints, so I added the grey and the green ones.

For skin I used: R00 / E000;

Glass: B0000 / B21;

Headlights: Y11 / E50 / E42;

Clothing: W1 / W3 / G43 / G94 / YG97 / YG95 / E89;

For the car and the tool box I used: W1 / W3 / C4 / C7 / N1 / N3 / E89 / E42 and E57.

I die cut the coloured image with my Crea-Nest-Lies-XXL dies and another piece of green card stock from my stash a little bigger and with a stitched edge. The coloured piece was made on white card stock and to make it a little more vintagy and less stark white I edged with a mix of different colours: Memento "London Fog", Distress ink "Weathered Wood" and Memento "Olive Grove" (don't you just love all these small ink cubes and drops, this way I can collect a lot of colours and the small ones save a lot of storage room).

For the background I used a piece of patterned paper, that has a menly feel about it, from my stash and edged that with Distress ink "Vintage Photo" (to bring a little of the brown back in). As a finishing touch I used a piece of ribbon and for a little something extra I used the Crealies Set of 3 (no 15) dies that feature different size paper-clip dies, these I cut from matte silver card stock. I only now realise that there is no sentiment on this card but that's okay, plenty of room inside the card to write something.

Now that all the elements are ready I can put this card together: I put the ribbon on with tape on the back of the card stock, then adhered the patterned paper square to the white card base with foam tape. The two smaller squares are put together with liquid glue and for the green mat I used foam tape also. But first I put the die cut paper-clips on with tape on the back and an little Ranger Medium Matte on the front.

I made the same card with warmer tones:

Copics :

For skin I used: R00 / E000 / R01;

Glass: B0000 / B21;

Green tones: G43 / YG17 / YG95 / YG97 / G94.

Red tones: R24 / R29 / R89;

For the car and the tool box I used: W1 / W3 / C4 / C7 / N1 / N3 / E11 / E13 / E19 and E29.

For edging the white square I used a mix of inks: Distress ink "Antique Linen", "Aged Mahogany" and Versafine "Toffee". And for the red square I used Versafine "Crimson Red".
