Hi everyone, today I have some fun and vintage birthday cards for the guys in your life AND you get to use some of your paper scraps that you’ve laying around, which also is a big plus!
So, let’s get started! I started by stamping the three images from the Lili of the Valley stamp set called “Vintage Motor - Trio” on some scraps of paper with Memento “Desert Sand” ink and cutting each image with a small square die. I chose the square die-size by trying to fit 3 in each row on the matte that I created with another bigger square die (9 of the small square die cuts fit exactly in 1 big square die cut).
I glued the 9 small square die cuts on the big square die cut with liquid glue and set it aside to dry. Next I stamped one of the images from this same stamp set on a piece of Canson “Bright White heavy weight Cartridge Paper” with Memento “Rich Cocoa” and coloured the image with my Faber Castell Polychromos using the colours 186/188/283/231/232/199/180/175 and 147. After the colouring was done I die cut a circle from the image with one of the My Favorite Things “Stitched Circle STAX” dies and edged with the same Desert Sand ink colour.
Then I went back to the background panel we worked on earlier. I edged the big square piece with Desert Sand ink, stamped some tires on the created background with a stamp from a Marianne Design Project NL stamp set (PL1520) in the same Rich Cocoa ink and finished the background piece with some splatters from my customized Finetec Pearl Color palette in “Bronze” to create a more interesting background to look at.
For my sentiment I chose two stamps from a stamp set from Taylored Expressions called “Another Year Older”, every time I read the sentiment on this card it makes me giggle, it’s so punny (or maybe it’s because I made this card for my boyfriend and I’m curious about his reaction).
I stamped the biggest sentiment on a scrap piece of card stock with the same Rich Cocoa ink as used before and since none of my banner dies were big enough I traced the outline of one of my dies (the biggest die from the Crealies “Double Fun no 1” set) with a pencil around the sentiment and free hand cut with my Fiskars scissors. I edged this piece with the same Desert Sand ink. The smaller sentiment I stamped on some scrap black piece of card stock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Stampendous “Detail White” embossing powder. After heat embossing I cut the sentiment into a banner shape with the middle sized die from the Lawn Fawn “Everyday Sentiment Banners” die set.
To finish this card I matted all the pieces that are edged with Desert Sand ink on a bigger piece of dark green card stock that I edged with Memento’s “Northern Pine” ink and glued these pieces together with liquid glue. Then I adhered the biggest green square piece on a white linen textured card base using one millimetre thick foam tape (after edging the white card base with the same Desert Sand ink) and layering on the other image and both sentiments in the same way (using liquid glue and foam tape).
And that finishes today’s first vintage card!
For my second card I used the same images just in a different colour scheme. For creating the background I used Memento’s “London Fog” ink, I stamped the vocal image with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink and coloured the car with the following Polychromo’s : 231/232/271/272173/ 199 and 147.
I stamped the tires with (second generation) Onyx Black ink and edged al of the brown card stock mats with Memento’s “Espresso Truffle”. For my splatters I used the Finetec Pearl Color called “Chocolate”.
And that leads us to today’s final card which I created with some of the same elements and some different ones: I started by cutting a panel of water colour card stock in the size I wanted with one of the stitched Crea-Nest-Lies XXL dies and water colouring the panel with no. 54 from my Gansai Tambi 36 watercolour set. After drying I stamped the same tire stamp as used in the other two cards with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink (first and second generation) over the water coloured piece. Next I used some Viva Decor Modelling Cream in the colour “Bronze” over a Studio Calico stencil called “Chevron Mask” and set this background piece aside to dry.
The image and the sentiments are created the same as the others mentioned before except that I used a smaller (and not stitched) circle die, I used no mats and I distressed the edges with a Heidi Swapp “Edge Distresser” and inked over them with a Brilliance Dew Drop in “Pearlescent Rust”. To finish this card I matted the watercolour piece on some matching dark orange card stock and put the card together with both liquid glue and foam tape (to create more dimension).
And that finishes all three cards for today! Which one do you like best?
