Coffee is always a Good Idea!

Stamping Bella don’ttalktomebeforemycoffeABELLA eb406

Hi guys, busy blog week up ahead! Today I would like to show you my second card for the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I feel it's so much fun to see what everybody is creating!

I started this card by stamping the Stamping Bella image called “don’ttalktomebeforemycoffeABELLA eb406” onto Canson 1557 paper with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink and then I coloured the image with my Faber Castell Polychromos.

I used the following colours: 132 / 189 /121 / 217 /103 / 102 / 185 / 101 / 110 / 157 / 187 / 180 / 283 / 177 and 175.

After the colouring was done I die cut around the image with one of my rectangle Crea-Nest-Lies XXL dies in the size I wanted. I also die cut a slightly bigger mat from some matching red card stock with a stitched rectangle nesting die. These mats are adhered together using liquid glue.

Then I started working on the rest of the card: I wanted to create my own patterned paper strip using the coffee beans in the Newton’s Nook “Newton Loves Coffee” stamp set, so I stamped those beans repeatedly onto a strip of white card stock with Archival Ink in the colour “Sepia”. To create a bit more dimension I partially went over the beans with a dark brown (88/45) Stabilo fine tip liner pen.

Later on I also edged this strip with Memento ink in the colour “Desert Sand”.

The big square background is die cut from a piece of patterned paper from my stash on which I repeatedly stamped one of the sentiments ("Coffee is Always a Good Idea!")from the same Newton’s Nook stamp set as mentioned before with the same Desert Sand ink and I also edged this square with that ink to create a bit more contrast. Since the patterned paper is fairly light stamping the additional sentiment in this subtle way created a bit more of an interesting background to look at without it drawing the eye from the main sentiment ("A Birthday Brew just for You!") and the cute girl.

Next I adhered the coffee bean strip onto the background panel, folded it around the sides and adhering it to the back with regular tape. Then I adhered the girl to the card with one millimetre thick foam tape. In my stash I found some organza ribbon in a dark red colour and also some red twine: I adhered the ribbon to the back of the panel with regular tape and wrapped the twine around the card and made a bow. I love it that you can still see the coloured image through the organza ribbon, but this makes the card so much more balanced!

Then it’s time to start working on the sentiment: I stamped another sentiment from the same Newton’s Nook stamp set as mentioned before onto some dark brown card stock with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Ranger “White Super Fine Detail” embossing powder. I cut a banner from this card stock using the smallest die in the CreaLies “Double Fun no. 1” die set and cutting of a piece on the left side using my scissors and adhering the sentiment banner to the card with two millimetre thick foam tape.

And to finish this card I glued on some sequins in a summery yellow colour combination using Pretty Pink Posh sequins in the colours “Lemon Meringue” and “Metallic Gold” and Cartwright Sequins in the colour “Satin Lemon Yellow”.

That’s it for today: I wish everyone lots of fun along the hop and also a creative day!
