Today I have a couple of cards for you that I made a while back but never got around to posting on my website. A while back I borrowed a stamp set from a friend and made a bunch of cards. You can find the other cards that I made with the same stamp set here.
For today’s cards I used the “Beautiful You” stamp set from Stampin’ Up.
On the first card I stamped one of the gorgeous images with Distress Ink in the colour “Vintage Photo” on dark kraft card stock. I cut the piece of kraft card stock in the size I wanted with one of my stitched Crea-Nest-Lies XXL dies. I also stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set and it fits this image so well! Love it!
Next I took my Faber Castell Polychromos pencil in “White” (101) and shaded the image, a little bit around the image (for more definition) and also the sentiment. After that I used the Tim Holtz stencil called “Blossom” and Viva Decor’s Modelling Cream in the colour “Mother of Pearl” to create a more interesting background to look at. After drying I also edged this piece with the same Distress ink used for stamping.
To finish this card I die cut a piece of white card stock just a bit larger then the kraft piece, edged with Versafine “Toffee” ink and glued both pieces together with liquid glue. This combined piece was foam taped to a dark red card base with one millimetre thick foam tape. And that’s it, easy peace!
For the second card I stamped and coloured as before but this time I used two separate pieces of dark kraft card stock. One I die cut with one of the MFT Stitched Circle Stax and one I die cut with one of the Crealies “Double Fun no 1” label dies.
Then I started working on the background: I used the same stencil as before with Viva Decor’s Inca Gold in the colour “Oldsilver”. Now, you need to now that this stuff is not meant for use on stencils, i’s a paint and when it’s not put on with pressure or rubbing, it will come off! So, instead of applying with a pallet knife I used a sponge to press the paint through the openings in the stencil.
After drying I splattered on some FineTec Pearl Color in “Chocolate” to create a more interesting background. I also matted the dark kraft pieces on some peachy/orangy card stock and free hand cut them out.
I felt this card needed a little something extra so I adhered some brown ribbon around the handmade background, after edging the card stock with Distress Ink in “Vintage Photo”, and then foam taped the circle and the label on there with one and two millimetre thick foam tape. To finish this card I foam taped this piece to a peachy/orangy card base and that’s it!
For todays third card I used a lot of the same principles that were used on the second card but I switched up some things: I stamped on rough watercolour card stock with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink and painted the image with Finetec Pearl Color in “Sterling Silver”. I created a bit more definition on the image with Finetec Pearl Color in “Silver Grey” and also used this colour around the edges of both the circle and the label. I matted both pieces on pink card stock that I also edged, with Memento’s “Lilac Posies”.
On the background piece I also used the Blossom stencil, this time with Viva Decor’s Inca Gold in the colour “Platinum” on black card stock. After drying I taped on some matching shiny silver ribbon and put this card together. To finish this card I glued on some sequins from Cartwright’s Sequins to create just a little bit more interest (I used the colours “Satin Smoke Screen” and “Metallic Razzleberry”).
On to today’s last card: I used Versafine “Vintage Sepia” to stamp the image and the sentiment. Coloured with “Bronze” and “Moon Gold” from Finetec Pearl Colors, matted on dark brown card stock that I edged with Memento’s “Espresso Truffle”. This time I used a different background: I run some pink card stock with a embossing folder from Marianne Design (DF3416) through my Big Shot and used gilding wax on top op that (“Onyxite” Treasure Gold and “Treasure Pewter”). Then I splattered on that same piece with Finetec Pearl Color in “Moon Gold” and let everything dry.
To finish this final card for today I taped on some light brown ribbon and foam taped everything together and also glued on some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh in the colour “Rose Gold”.
This stamp set from Stampin’Up is so elegant and feminine, you just have to love it!
