Hi everyone, today I would like to show you my entry for the poster contest for an art and craft event here in the Netherlands called "ART Specially", it’s a craft fair for stamping and mixed media enthusiasts. The winning card for this contest will be displayed on the posters for the event and also on social media for that year’s event. You are free to create whatever card you would like as long as it contains some stamping.
The ART Specially fair is held in April 2018, so in springtime, that’s why I choose flowers for my focal point, added on top of layers of stamping, modeling paste and pigment powders. The title is something that’s very true for me personally and I guess for a lot of other crafter's as well.
To get this card started I die cut a square panel from some Strathmore “Bristol Smooth Surface“ paper using one of my Crea-Nest-Lies XXL square dies. Then I used a Studio Light background stamp with number “STAMPSL181“ on this panel with Archival Ink in the colour “Jet Black“, taking some of the ink of the stamp, before stamping, around the edges and also in the space where I planned my title.
Over the stamping I used a The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Celtic Design“ (TCW732s) with some The Crafter's Workshop “Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste“ (TCW9004) applied with a palette knife. Then I set this panel aside to dry.

In the meantime I stamped the flowers and the leafs, from a Simon Says Stamp stamp set called “Spring Flowers“, onto the same Strathmore paper with Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink and clear heat embossing afterwards. Then I started colouring the images with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and using my Pentel Aquabrush. I used the following colours: Pale Green, Light Green, Tea Rose and Pink Flamingo. After the images were dry I fussy cut them out using my Fiskars scissors and edging them lightly with Distress Ink in the colour “Evergreen Bough“.
Now that the modeling paste is dry I can apply some colour to this background panel: I used a Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Shaker in the colour “Guten Tag Teal“, sprayed with water and drying (with my Ranger Heat It tool) when I liked the result. This way I worked on several layers until I was happy!
To flatten the panel out I put it in a book after it was dry.
In my next step I wrote the title on the card: I first pencilled in the words with a graphite pencil and when I was happy with the way it looked I went over the lines with a Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen (size S). When I was sure that the ink was dry I erased the pencil lines.
Then I die cut a purple panel from some linen textured purple coloured card stock and using one of my stitched square Crea-Nest-Lies XXL dies. I adhered the turquoise panel onto the purple panel using liquid glue and adhering these combined panels to a crème coloured card base (that I edged with Evergreen Bough ink) with one millimetre thick foam tape. Then I splattered with some COLIRO Pearlcolors by Finetec GmbH in “Rose Gold“ and waited for that to dry.

When the splatters were dry I decided on the arrangement of the flowers and leafs and adhered them with 3D kit and for my finishing touch I choose some satin purple coloured sequins in different sizes that I adhered with Ranger Medium Matte.
And that’s it for today’s card!
I’m really looking forward to the ART Specially fair, even when it’s just the next year!
