Christmas Card Swap - Part 1

LOTV Seeds and Greetings

Hi everyone, today I would like to show you a set of cards of which one I created especially for the Kit and Clowder “Christmas Card Swap“: how does this event exactly work? You could sign up for the card swap on the Kit and Clowder Facebook page, you get assigned a designated partner, you create a card for that person and that person for you and then you sent each other the card. The card should be Christmas themed. You have about two weeks to create and sent the card.

I also used the same Lili of the Valley stamp on today’s second card.

I started my first card (the one for the swap) by stamping the “Seeds and Greetings“ stamp from LOTV onto some Strathmore “Toned Tan“ paper using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink. Then I coloured the image using my Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencils and my white Caran d ‘Ache Luminance pencil (I find that this white pencil works better on darker paper then the white Polychromos pencil).

I used the following colours: 219, 165, 115, 147, 231, 232, 199, 187, 283 and 176.

After the colouring is done I drew back in some of the stamped lines that I lost during the colouring process. For this I used a Copic MiltiLiner (0.1).

I knew I wanted to use a piece of ribbon on this card so, before die cutting I decided where the ribbon should go and then I die cut around the image using a die from my rectangle Crea-Nest-Lies XXL die set. I also die cut a slightly larger panel from some matching green card stock using a die from my stitched rectangle nesting Crea-Nest-Lies XXL die set. For my background I choose a matching patterned paper from my stash and die cut that in a larger rectangle shape using the same nesting die set as before.

And then it’s already time to put this card together: I choose a crème coloured linen textured card base. I adhered the coloured image onto the green panel using liquid glue, then I adhered these combined panels to the red panel, also using liquid glue. Then I wrapped the ribbon around these panels, adhered on the back with regular tape and then I finished this card by adhering everything to the card base with one millimetre thick foam tape.

For my second card I stamped the same image on some “Perfect Colouring Paper“ using Memento “Tuxedo Black “ ink and then I coloured the image using my Copic Sketch Markers. I used the following colours: RV00, RV52, RV55, RV06, RV17, YR01, YR12, YR14, YR18, B0000, B01, BG11, BG53, BG07, BG75, N0, N2, W3, E50, E55, E57 and E29. The process of putting this card together is the same as with the other card (I worked with a white linen textured card base since that colour fitted the paper I coloured on better then a crème coloured card base).

If you like to create cards and you haven't participated in this years Christmas Card Swap then you might want to join the Kit and Clowder FB group so you don't miss out on it next year!

In a couple of days I have Part 2 of this swap for you guys, so stay tuned!

In the meantime I wish you’ll a creative day!
