Hi everyone, in a short while it’s Valentine’s Day and today I wanted to show you the card that I created for my boyfriend!
I started this card by stamping one of the monkey’s, the branch and the bananas from the Sugar Pea Designs stamp set called “Chunky Monkey“ onto Copic friendly paper using Memento “Tuxedo Black“ ink. Then I coloured the image using my Copic Sketch markers. I used the following colours: Y000, Y11, Y13, YR30, Y08, Y26, G40, YG03, YG17, YG67, R00, R20, E42, E55, E57, E59, E44, E89 and BG70.
Next I fussy cut the images out using my Fiskars scissors leaving a small white border. I also cut out a small triangle shape from the tail of the monkey so it looks more like he is actually hanging from the tree.

Then I started working on the background panel. I die cut a stitched rectangle in the size that I wanted from some linen textured white card stock. On this panel I first stamped one of the sentiments from the same Chunky Monkey stamp set using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink and then I stamped part of the Simon Says Stamp “Flora Background“ stamp using VersaMark ink and heat embossing with Ranger “White Super Fine Detail“ embossing powder. Then I applied some Memento “Summer Sky“ ink over the heat embossed part, using a foam applicator tool, starting from the middle and working outwards, this is a very light colour ink so you don’t have to worry about hard edges. Just work it a bit until you like the colour you created. I feel this creates an interesting but not distracting background for my monkey (like there is some foliage behind him).
The rest of the card is quite easy. I die cut a slightly larger rectangle panel from some dark burgundy card stock, I adhered the linen textured panel on there using liquid glue and then I adhered these combined panels to a white linen textured card base using one millimetre thick foam tape.

To finish this card I now only have to adhered the monkey, the branch and the bananas to the card: for the monkey and the branch I used one millimetre thick foam tape and for the bananas I used Ranger Medium Matte.
And that is today’s card, I hope you like it and until the next time, have a creative day!
