Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hi everyone, welcome to my stop in the Altenew 4th Anniversary Blog Hop! If you came here from the super-talented Kymona Tracey then you’re right on track (but you can always go back to the beginning HERE).

Isn’t this a fun way to celebrate your birthday, together with all your crafty friends! Congratulations Altenew on your 4th birthday, hopefully there are many more to come!

I’m very excited to be back as a guest designer for Altenew (thank you May!). It was a lot of fun to create the set of cards that I want to show you today. For today’s cards I used one of my all time favourite Altenew stamp sets, which is “Persian Motifs“, this set is beautifully designed and very versatile.

Altenew Persian Motifs

To get my first card started I stamped one of the sentiments from the Altenew “Beautiful Day“ stamp set onto a die cut square panel (made from “Canson 1557 paper“, which takes coloured pencil very well) using black ink. Then I stamped two of the flower designs from the Altenew “Persian Motifs“ stamp set repeatedly around the sentiment and filled in some empty spots with one of the smaller stamps in this stamp set.

Then the fun begins: I coloured all the flowers and the background using Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencils, numbers 155, 138, 188, 102, 123, 177 and 175. When the colouring was done I looked for a matching teal coloured piece of card stock from which I die cut a slightly larger square mat. These two panels I adhered together using liquid glue.

And to finish this first card I now only have to adhere these two combined panels to a white linen textured card base using one millimetre thick foam tape and embellish the card with some sparkling clear sequins in different sizes (adhering them with Ranger Medium Matte).

Altenew Persian Motifs

And because we're celebrating a birthday I also wanted to create a sparkly birthday card! For today’s second card I first die cut a square panel from some white linen textured card stock. On this square I stamped one of the sentiments from the Altenew “Birthday Builder“ stamp set, using black ink and my MISTI.

Then I die cut a mandala shape from some sturdy card stock using the new Altenew “Mandala die set“. This die cut I’m going to use as a mask: I placed the mandala shape over the die cut square panel and applied some Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Texture Paste in the colour “Frosty Blossom” over the mandala shape using a palette knife and then set this panel aside to dry. Isn’t this a fun way to use your die cuts, I love the result (instead of texture paste you can also use inks or sprays)!

While the texture paste is drying I’m going to work on my focal points: for this I used one of the flowers from the same Altenew “Persian Motifs“ stamp set. I stamped the flower three times on some Strathmore “Bristol Smooth Surface“ paper using VersaMark ink and then I heat embossed with Altenew “Rose Gold“ Crisp Embossing Powder. This is a awesome embossing powder to have, it’s a gorgeous colour and it can handle all the detail work.

Next I’m going to colour the flowers using my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers and my Pentel Aquabrush. I used the following colours: Turquoise Green, Persian Green, Light Brown, Brown and Sugar Almond Pink. When the colouring was done and the paper dry I fussy cut the coloured flowers.

Now I can put my card together: I die cut a slightly larger purple coloured linen textured square panel. I adhered the sparkle texture paste panel on this purple panel using liquid glue and then adhered these combined panels to a white linen textured card base using one millimetre thick foam tape.

And to finish this card I adhered the fussy cut flowers on top also using one millimetre thick foam tape and 3D kit.

And that’s it for today’s cards!
