Hi everyone, today I’m showing you my take on the CraftAddiction April Challenge mood board. CraftAddiction is a Dutch craft supply store and they are sponsoring a monthly challenge on Facebook.
This is what this month’s mood board looks like:

The mood board made me think about “heart“ and “home“, “your own special place“, and that’s what I wanted to incorporate in my art journal page for today. I’m working in my 13 x 21 cm Art Plus Moleskine Sketchbook (I keep an empty page between two used pages, when the project is finished I glue them together, this way anything bleeding through won’t damage a previous project and when you want to poke a hole in the page you can).

Step 1:
I started my page by applying Dylusions Paints in the colours “Fresh Lime“ and “White Linen“ to the art journal page using a foam applicator tool, I mixed the colours on the page. Don’t gesso the page before you ad these paints, they work wonderfully without gesso!
When the paint was dry I pencilled in the quote that I wanted to use for today’s page using a graphite pencil and when I was happy I went over the lines using a black Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen (s). I used a calligraphy style that I taught myself as a child.

Step 2:
Next I started working on my focal point: I stamped the house image from the StampingBella stamp set called “Fairy Garden House“ onto Strathmore “Bristol Smooth Surface“ paper using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink and I clear heat embossed afterwards (this way the lines stay crisp and black).
Then I coloured the image using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and my Pentel Aquabrush. I used the following Marker colours: Pale Green, Light Green, Haze Blue, Blue Gray, Pale Gray, Brick Beige and Mid Brown. When the colouring was dry I added in some highlights using a white Sakura Gelly Rol pen.
I also tore a page from a dictionary in a shape that I liked and edged with Versafine “Vintage Sepia“ ink and a foam applicator tool. I will use this dictionary page piece up side down.

Step 3:
Now that I know what my focal point is looking like I return to my page and start working with a couple of stencils and more paints. For this I choose three The Crafter’s Workshop stencils: TCW771s, TCW791s and TCW721s (but you can use any stencils you have that you think fit the theme). I applied the same white Dylusions paint as well as Dylusions Paint in the colour “Melted Chocolate“ using a foam applicator tool: take a little of the paint out of the jar and put in on your craft sheet, work the paint in the foam applicator tool and carefully apply over the stencil. If you use too much paint the paint will seep underneath the stencil, that’s not what you want. So, ad a little at a time!

Step 4:
When the paint has dried I splattered on the page using Coliro Pearl Colors by Finetec GmbH in the colour “Sky Blue“ with a brush and after drying I added my focal point to the page using liquid glue. And to finish this fun page I edged the page using Versafine “Vintage Sepia“ ink and Archival Ink in the colour “Jet Black“ using a foam applicator tool.

And that’s it for today’s project! I wish you a creative day!
