Hi everyone, today I would like to show you my take on the “CCB 12 x 12 Kraft Envelope Challenge“. We (all members of the CCB design team) were all sent a kraft colored envelope 12 x12 inch in size and we should create anything we want with it. You can find more info about the challenge here: http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/it-is-all-about-the-kraft-envelope-a-crew-challenge/
So, let‘s get started!
First I applied one coat of The Crafter’s Workshop “Clear Gesso“ to the craft envelope using a brush and set that aside to dry. Then I created three tags by hand: one from Canvas Corp 12 x12 C-Flute “White“ paper and two from the backside of Canvas Corp “Black & Kraft Number Paper“ (because that’s the kraft paper I had on hand and it’s the same colour as the kraft envelope that I’m working with). I coated the kraft coloured tags with the same clear gesso as the envelope and I covered the C-Flute tag with The Crafter’s Workshop “Black Gesso“ and then set these aside to dry.
For my focal point I choose one of the images with title from the 7gypsies American Vintage Collection, this paper is called “Go & See“ and I fussy cut the image.
Next I tore a V-shape in my envelope and inserted some Canvas Corp “Black“ Burlap and some 7gypsies “Lace Trimmings“ on top and adhered these with some gel medium.
Now I’m ready to ad other fun elements to my envelope: I fist stamped with a Finnabair by Prima Marketing stamp ( #960834) and using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink. Then I applied The Crafter’s Workshop (white) “Modeling Paste“ over two different stencils (TCW744s and TCW767s) using a palette knife and let that dry. Next I added Archival Ink in the color “Sepia“ over another stencil (TCW799s) using a foam applicator tool and finally applied VersaMark ink over a stencil (TCW763s and TCW744s) and heat embossed with Ranger “Queen’s Gold “ embossing powder.
Then I decided to ad more (smaller) tags to my project. For this I used Canvas Corp “Chalkstock Tags Ex Small“ and Canvas Corp “Bulk White Tags“ in two different sizes. I adhered all of these tags together using liquid glue (you can also use gel medium), but I did not adhere the tags to my project yet!
Next I stamped and added gold heat embossing to some of the tags using the same materials as before. At this stage the focal image is not adhered yet!
Now I can ad color to my project, for this I choose colors that matched the focal point of my project: Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist in the color “Chalk“ and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists in the colors “Turqouise Blue“ and “Navy Blue“. I first sprayed on my project directly and also applied the color with a brush to the project and made it run with water from a spray bottle, then dried, working each color separately and drying in between with a heat tool. When I was happy with the result I started to ad splatters using a brush. I worked on the envelope and on the tag section separately.
This is the final stage of the project where everything comes together: I added some highlights in with a white Gelly Roll pen, I edged the sides of the envelope and the tags with Archival Inks in the colors “Sepia“, “Coffee“ and Versafine ink in the color “Onyx Black“ using a foam applicator tool. Then I’m ready to adhere the tag section to the envelope using liquid glue and foam tape and also adhere the focal point on top.
And for some finishing touches I adhered some Canvas Corp “Jute Cord“ on two tags and adhered on the back using regular tape and I also added some sparkly details using sequins in different sizes and colors, those I adhered with Ranger Medium Matte.
And that finishes this fun challenge project, I had a blast while creating this!
I wish you’ll a creative day!
