Hi everyone, today I would like to show you my take on the CraftAddiction May Challenge Mood Board! You can find the mood board in this Facebook group (CraftAddiction is a Dutch craft supply store and sponsors the give away for the ones participating in the challenge).
This is what this month’s mood board looks like: I was mainly inspired by the colours of this mood board, the gorgeous flowers, the heart shape and the word angel! I’m working in my new art journal: it’s A4 size (which is fairly large for what I have been working in before today) and by the Dutch brand Studio Light (the journal itself is designed by the artist Art by Marlene) and I’m working on the paper that comes in the journal.
I took step by step pictures if you would like to follow along:
For today’s page I used the backside of the paper that comes in the journal (the backside is a a little rougher then the front). I pencilled in the title that I wanted to use, first with a graphite pencil and when I was happy I went over the lines using a black Faber Castell PIT Artist Pen (s). This ink is waterproof when dry.
Then I applied some The Crafter’s Workshop (white) “Modeling Paste“ over a The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Tangled Vine“ (TCW759s) using a palette knife and let that dry.
Next I added some heart shapes to my page using a stamp and Archival Ink in the colour “Jet Black“ (which is waterproof).
Now I’m going to ad my first colours to the project: I started with Lindy’s Stamp Gang “Drop Dead Gorgeous Green“ Magical (adding the powder to the project with a fan brush, spraying with water which makes the colour run and the drying when I liked the results, repeating this procedure several times until I was happy with the background, working on one corner at a time). On the bottom left corner and the top right hand corner I also added Lindy’s Stamp Gang “Cathedral Pines Green“ Magical Shaker in the same way. And I finished the background with some splatters with this colour as well.
For my flowers I choose an Altenew stamp set called “Beautiful Day“. I stamped the flowers and leaves several times onto Strathmore “Bristol Smooth Surface“ paper using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink and clear heat embossing afterwards. Then I coloured the flowers using Lindy’s Stamp Gang “Magnolia Magenta Gold“ Magical Shaker and the leaves with Lindy’s Stamp Gang “Polka Purple“ Magical Shaker using a small brush and painting the flowers/leaves with watered down magical shaker powder.
When the colouring was done and dry I added back in some details with a white Gelly Roll Pen and then I fussy cut all the stamped images using my Fiskars scissors.
Now I’m ready to ad the flowers and leaves to my page using liquid glue and let that dry.
To finish my page I created some butterflies in the same way as I did with the flowers (using a no name brand butterfly stamp set) and colouring the butterflies with Lindy’s Stamp Gang “California Poppy Gold“ Magical Shaker, adhering them to the page using liquid glue and edging the journal page with the same Versafine black ink that I used before and a foam applicator tool.
