August Release Graciellie Design: Guest Design Project 1

Hi everyone, today I would like to show you my first project as a guest designer for Graciellie Design. I will be guest designing for a three month period so you will see a couple more project with their fun digital images in the upcoming months. What I love about these images is that there are multiple images in one set and all the images and sentiments are really well designed!

In August there will be two new awesome digital stamp sets available: “Stay Strong“ and “Dream On“. Today I will be showing you parts of both sets in an art journal page that I created in my Studio Light A4 sized journal (Studio Light is a Dutch brand and the journal itself is designed by the artist Art by Marlene).

Graciellie Design Stay Strong

Step 1:

I started my project by printing the beautiful flower image that comes in the new Graciellie Design digital set called “Stay Strong“ in three different sizes on some Copic friendly paper in a number that I thought I would need to fill my page. For each size flower I choose a different Copic colour family (yellow, pink and turquoise).

Next I coloured all the flowers with the following Copic colours: V000, RV52, RV06, Y000, Y08, Y19, BG000, BG07, BG78, E11, E07, G40, YG17 and YG67. After the colouring was done I added back in some highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen and when that was dry I fussy cut all the flowers leaving a small white border.

I also printed one of the quotes from the gorgeous new Graciellie Design digital set called “Dream On“ on the same paper that I used for the flowers and die cut around it using the middle sized die from the Kennedy Grace Creations “Scalloped Stitched Stacked Rectangle“ die set.

Step 2:

Now all the elements for my page are ready and I want to work a bit on the background of my page to give my flowers a good home. On one of the pages from the mentioned art journal I applied some The Crafter’s Workshop “White Modeling Paste“ over parts of the new The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Bird and Butterflies“ (TCW816s). Because I only used parts of the stencil the design looks like water movement. I let the modeling paste dry completely.

After the modeling paste is dry I added colour to my background. Because I wanted the background to resemble water (because of the quote is choose) I decided on a blue colour: for this I used Lindy’s Stamp Gang Spray in “Azure Sea Asters“.

I applied the colour to my page using a brush after I sprayed the page with water from my spray bottle, this makes the colour move. I dried the page with my heat tool when I liked the result. This I did several times until I was happy. When the page was completely dry I created splatters with the same blue colour and also with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical in “Hi Maintenance Magenta“ (mixed with water and splattered on with a brush).

Then I flattened the page in a thick book for a couple of hours.

Step 3:

Now n I’m ready to put my page together: I adhered the quote where I wanted it to go (using one millimetre thick foam tape) and then I added the flower design using liquid glue and one millimetre thick foam tape and set that aside to dry.
