Hi everyone, today I would like to show you my take on the Canvas Corp Brands Summer Challenge that has recently been published: all crew members (the Canvas Corp Design Team) were sent a Canvas Corp canvas item, in my case a “Little Flat Tote“ (size 6x6 inch), and the challenge is to “use it EITHER in a project you often do - a layout, a card or a art journal spread for example OR use the item you were sent as it is“.
Since I love to create art journal pages I decided to use my canvas item on an an art journal spread which was a lot of fun to do and something I had never done before!
This is what the canvas item looks like that I was sent (“Little Flat Tote“):

-------------------------

Step 1:
Today I’m working in my 7gypsies “Vintage Pink“ Mix and Match book and I choose a page with a gray coloured dictionary type background. I started my project by choosing the images from my 7gypsies Architextures Parchment Rub-On set “Inspire“ that I wanted to use on today’s page. I cut them out from the big sheet and decided where I wanted to ad them on my project. Two of the rub-on images I transferred to the chosen page in my Vintage Pink Mix and Match book that I used as my base. I love how wonderfully detailed these parchment rub-ons are.
As my second layer I choose the Canvas Corp “Black and Ivory Love Script“ paper and I tore a piece from that in a shape that I liked.

Step 2:
Now I’m going to work on my third layer: from the little canvas tote I cut the largest piece of canvas possible (without handles, stitching and such) and I also kept the fabric handles from the tote to use on my project. First I cut the canvas piece in a shape that I liked and then distressed the edges with my fingernails. Then I transferred the remaining three images from the Parchment Rub-On set “Inspire“ that I selected before, on the canvas (because of the texture of the canvas you will loose some of the details but not too much I feel).
Next I cut the fabric tote handles in three pieces in a length that I liked and colored each one with a different colour of Tattered Angels Mists: I used “Turquoise Blue“, “Medallion“ and “Black Cherry“.
I dried the fabric with my heat tool. Then I cut three slits in the main canvas panel, slit the coloured strips through and used a stapler to adhere back to front.

Step 3:
In this step I’m going to bring everything together: I adhered the Love Script piece of paper to the actual page using The Crafter’s Workshop “Matte Gel Medium“ and a brush and then adhered the canvas fabric layer on top with the same Matte Gel Medium (wash the brush afterwards).
And to finish my page I distressed the edges of the page using an edge distresser (but you can also use your scissors) and I edged the page in random places using Archival Ink in the color “Jet Black“ and a foam applicator tool.

And that’s it for today’s fun Challenge project! I wish you a creative day!
