Hi everyone, today I’m on The Crafter’s Workshop blog with a fall inspired art journal page. I’m working in my 13 x 21 cm Art Plus Moleskine Sketchbook (I keep an empty page between two used pages, when the project is finished I glue them together, this way anything bleeding through won’t damage a previous project and when you want to poke a hole in the page you can).
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.
You can work directly on the pages of this Sketchbook without priming your page with gesso, when you work with Dylusions Paints. I started my pages by applying three colours of this paint using a foam applicator tool. I choose “White Linen“, “Pure Sunshine“ and “Chopped Pesto“. I wanted to keep my right hand page a little lighter because my quote needed to go there. The left hand page looks a little awkward at this point but it will make sense in the next step (I wanted the pumpkins to have different colours so I created the colours in about the right place before adding the stencilled lines).
Basically I applied paint in layers, wet into wet, until I was happy and I also stamped in between sort of dry layers using Archival Ink in the colour “Jet Black“ and a Finnabair by Prima Marketing stamp (#960841), when I’m done with this step you can still see the stamping in the orange pumpkin.
Then, on my left hand page I placed one of the new The Crafter’s Workshop stencils called “Pumpkin Harvest “ (TCW819s) and applied the same black ink, that I used before to stamp, over the stencil using a foam applicator tool. After that I went a little over the pumpkin lines with a black Copic MultiLiner to make them a little sharper. And on the right hand page I first pencilled in my quote using a graphite pencil and when I was happy I went over the lines using a black Faber Castell PITT Artist pen (s).
To make my page even more fall like I next applied some DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint in the colour “Sable Brown“ several times over parts of a The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Big Wreath“ (TCW721s) using a foam applicator tool (if you take to much paint on your applicator it will seep underneath the stencil, and this technique works best when used with up en down pouncing motions). I repeated this process until I created the leaves around the entire page.
To create some highlights on my project I next doodled on my page using a white Gelly Roll pen by Sakura. This takes a little time but the overall effect for my page is stunning!
And all I have to do now to finish my page is to go around the edges using a foam applicator tool and the same black ink that I used before, to create a slightly more defined edge. Then I adhered the left hand page to the previous (blanc) page using The Crafter’s Workshop “Matte Gel Medium“ (TCW9011), using a brush (wash afterwards), and then I’m ready!

I totally love how this page turned out! This pumpkin stencil is fabulous for all your fall projects!
That's it for today's fun project, I wish you a creative day!
