Hi everyone, I’m so glad to be back with you as a guest designer for Altenew! And what a wonderful occasion, Altenew is turning five! We are celebrating with a fun blog hop and there are lots of prizes to win! If you came here from the wonderful Olga Moss, then you’re right on track, if not then you can go HERE, to start at the beginning of the hop.
For today’s special birthday card I created a step by step tutorial for you, so if you like my project, you know exactly what to do and what each step will look like.
I started my project by cutting a piece of watercolour paper in a size that is two sizes smaller then my card base. Then I stamped one of the sentiments from the Altenew “Birthday Builder” stamp set on the panel using black archival ink (when the stamping isn’t as black as you would like, because of the textured watercolour paper this can happen, then you can make corrections with a black multi-liner, after the spraying part).
Next I applied some Altenew Ink Spray in “Warm Sunshine” to the panel using a brush, then I sprayed with water, which makes the colour run and I dried the panel when I liked what I had, using a heat tool. This I repeated several times. When I was happy I also created splatters with this same colour using the brush.
To complete my background panel I ran it through my Big Shot with the Altenew “Dotted Scales Debossing Cover Die” to create a little fun extra element in the background of my project.
Now I’m going to work on the embellishments that will go on top of the background panel we just created. For this I stamped almost all of the flower and leaf images from the Altenew “Perfectly Perfect” stamp set onto alcohol marker friendly paper using Memento “Tuxedo Black” ink.
Then I coloured all the images using my Copic Sketch markers but you can of course also use your Altenew “Artist Markers”. I used the following Copic marker colours: G20, G07, G14, R00, YR01, YR02, YR14, YR18, RV10, RV02, RV06, RV09, RV69, Y000 and Y15. When the colouring was done I added back in some highlights using a white Gelly Roll Pen.
Next I fussy cut all the images using my Fiskars scissors and leaving a small white border. If you have the matching dies for this stamp set then you can of course use the dies which makes life so much easier!
Time to put this fun card together: I cut a slightly larger panel from some bright green card stock for my watercolour panel. These panels I adhered together using liquid glue. This combination I adhered to a white linen textured card base using one millimetre thick foam tape and to finish this card I now only have to adhere the coloured and fussy cut flowers and leaves on top using one millimetre thick foam tape and liquid glue!

And that’s it for today’s fun birthday project!
