Crealies: Happy Flowers card project

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing another project for this years guest design series for Crealies with you all and today I’m creating this fun birthday card.

Step 1:

I started my project by tracing the outside die shape and the inner most die shapes of the Cardzz Happy (cardsize) die set onto Canson 1557 paper using a graphite pencil and a light hand. The in between die size I leave untouched for now!

After tracing I place the paper into my MISTI stamping tool (you can use any stamping tool you have) and next I’m focusing on positioning the new beautiful Crealies flower stamps over the Happy text. I stamped with a good black ink when I was happy with my positioning. I kept adding separate flowers and leaves wherever I felt that was needed. If you don’t want to stamp over an already created design cover up that piece with a post it note of piece of paper. If you covered up too large of an area than take a Copic Liner pen and draw in the missing lines, no problem at all! I worked on my design until I was happy!

Step 2:

Now I can start the fun part which of course is the colouring process: today I’m using my Spectrum Noir ColourBlend coloured pencils (you can use whatever coloured pencils you have).

For all of today’s colouring I used the following pencils: Mulberry, Grape, Deep Purple, Coffee Bean, Gold Finch, Saffron, Nectarine, Vivid Pink, Icicle, Lake Blue, Periwinkle and Admiral Blue.

After the colouring is done I added in some highlights using a white gel pen (this is a bit tricky since pencils are wax based and the gel pen will have problems adhering to it, but I like the results and hence take the afford).

Step 3:

Now that the colouring is done I can work on the rest of the card design: I replace the largest die in the Happy Cardzz die set and place this die within the previously drawn lines. Now I can die cut this shape.

Next I tape the smallest dies from the set, place them within the previously drawn lines and die cut each character separately. Don’t worry about the pencil lines that will still be visible, you will not see them in the finished card project.

Step 4:

From light yellow card stock I now die cut the outer Happy shape again (it will make adhering all the elements together much easier). And I also die cut the middle sized character dies (that I haven’t used until now) from the same yellow card stock.

Step 5:

Adhere all the previously die cut elements onto each other: for this I used liquid glue and one millimetre thick foam tape. This combined set of layers I finally adhered to a dark brown card base using liquid glue.

For the Birthday sentiment I used the Text Dies no 104 die set called Happy Birthday and only used the Birthday part.

Step 6:

I die cut the Birthday text three times, adhered the three layers together using liquid glue and then finished the card by adhering this thicker sentiment onto the card using liquid glue.

And that is it for today! I wish you a creative day!
