Hi everyone, today I’m sharing my 2022 Father’s Day card project with you all, and I’m also showing a bonus card with the same technique for a more female project!
Father’s Day Card
The small shaped backgrounds for both of today’s cards are created using alcohol ink on Yupo paper (Yupo is non poreus and the alcohol ink will dry slowly, best combined with isopropal alcohol (I used 96%) or blender solutaion) to make it flow. You can move the ink around on the Yupo using a straw, a hairdryer or a tool like you see in the picture (this one is by Tim Holtz). For today’s project I added some alcohol ink (Spectrum Noir Reinker in TB8) on the Yupo, adding in isopropal alcohol and than moving the liquid using the tool, you can move it forth and back until it’s dry. After drying the panel I created splatters using pure isopropal alcohol and dabbed them of with a paper kitchen towel.
There are lots of useful video’s on YouTube about this technique, for me it is key to use enough isopropal alcohol, use little air to move the liquid and of course ventilate well in the room you are working!

After I created my background I die cut a rectangle panel from the larger alcohol ink panel and I matted it on black card stock using liquid glue.

Next I stamped an image by Nellie’s Choice (which is a Dutch craft brand) called “Backpack and Shoes” (CSMT009) onto alcohol marker friendly paper using alcohol proof ink. Now I can colour the image using my Spectrum Noir TriBlend alcohol markers. I used the following markers: Dull Green Blend marker, Yellow Green Blend Marker, Lavender Blend marker, True Blue Blend marker, Ice Grey Blend marker, Ice Grey Shades marker, Earth Brown Shades marker, Gold Brown Blend marker and Gold Brown Shades marker.
After the colouring is done I added back in some highlights using a white gel pen. And I fussy cut the image leaving a small border.
For my background I looked for a matching piece of design paper from my stash, I created another black mat and adhered both rectangle panels together using liquid glue. Onto these combined panels I stamped my sentiment using a combination of stamps from a The Ton stamp set called “Basic Sentiments” in combination with black ink.

Now I only have to adhere the combination of rectangle panels onto my white card base and adhere the alcohol ink background and coloured image on top using one millimetre thick foam tape and liquid glue.

Bonus Card
On a different Yupo panel I created a background in the same way as mentioned before using the Spectrum Noir Reinker in BT9 and I die cut a circle shape from the panel when it was dry.
I used one of the images in the Power Poppy Stamps “Azalea” stamp set as my focal point and coloured the image using the following Spectrum Noir TriBlend alcohol markers: Pink Violet Blend marker, Bright Pink Shades marker, Magenta Blend marker, Gold Yellow Blend marker, Blue Turquoise Shades marker, Aqua Blue Blend marker, Alpine Green Blend marker, Jade Green Blend marker and Earth Brown Blend marker.

After the colouring is done I added back in some highlights using a white gel pen. And I fussy cut the image leaving a small border.
I used a different piece of design paper from my stash and on there I stamped one of the sentiments from the Clearly Besotted “Simply Said” stamp set using black ink.

And that is it for today’s cards! I wish you a creative day!
