Hi everyone, first of all I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year, and that all your dreams for this brand new year may come true !
Today I’m showing you step by step how you can create this fun flowery birthday card using lots of gorgeous Lindy’s Stamp Gang colours! Let’s get started!

Step 1:
I started my card project by stamping one of the flower images from the Clearly Besotted "Beautiful Friend" stamp set twice onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink (after using an anti-static powder tool on the paper) and clear heat embossing afterwards using Lindy’s Stamp Gang "Clearly Clear" Embossing Powder. This way my lines stay black and crisp no matter how much water I add.
In my palette I then mix some Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical in "Blue Hawaiian Blue" with water to create a watercolour paint. With this blue colour I painted around the entire image. This is the same colour that I will also use on my background panel later on.
This part doesn’t have to be particular neat since I will later on fussy cut the image leaving only a small border.
For the first colour on my flower petals I’m choosing a bright yellow in Lindy’s Stamp Gang "Magical Pineapple Paradise". I mix a little bit of the powder from the jar with water in my palette and then paint each petal with a small brush, starting where the heart of the flower is and fading the colour outwards using clean water (from a separate container).

Step 2:
Next I’m mixing some orange using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical in "Orange Creamsicle" and working outwards in the same way I did with the yellow colour.

Step 3:
This procedure I repeat using the yellow colour over the orange again, then the orange over the yellow again and finishing with a last layer of yellow. You can add as many layers as you prefer until the colour is dark enough for your liking.

Step 4:
Then I’m working on the leaves. For this I choose Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Shaker in "Lederhosen Laurel", applying the colour in the same way as I did with the other ones.

Step 5:
To create an even more darker green colour I’m using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Spray in "Jack in the Pulpit Teal".

Step 6:
Work in layers with both of these greenish colours until the leaves are dark enough for my liking.

Step 7:
When the colouring is done I add some highlights using a white Gelly Roll pen and then I fussy cut the images leaving a small border.

Step 8:
Now that my focal points are ready I can work on my background panel: for this I die cut a rectangle panel two sizes smaller than my card base from watercolour paper. On this panel I stamp my sentiment using one of the sentiments from the same stamp set that I used before and I used some Archival ink in Jet Black.
Next I place a stencil (TCW859s) over the panel and apply some TCW Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste over the stencil using a palette knife and then set this panel aside to dry.
When dry I can add colour to my background panel: for this I add a little of the blue Magical colour that I used before onto the paper using a fan brush. The powder I spray with water which makes the colour run. I dry the colour when I like what I have and repeat this procedure until enough of the panel is covered to my liking.
To make the fuchsia flower background a little bit more visible again you can dampen a piece of paper kitchen towel and dab on the raised modeling paste area’s. This way you can take away some of the blue colour from the modeling paste design and make the flowers more visible if you like.
When the panel is dry I splattered with some of the left over green paint that I used to colour the leaves with.

Step 9:
Time to put my card project together: I die cut a slightly larger panel from matching orange card stock and adhere both panels together using liquid glue. If your watercolour panel is warped you can place this combination in a thick book and wait for about a half hour and your panel is flat again.
This combination of rectangle panels I adhered to a white linen textured card base using one millimetre thick foam tape. Next I adhered the flower images on top using one millimetre thick foam tape and finished this fun project by adhering some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins in different sizes using Ranger Medium Matte from the small bottle.
