Jenine’s Mindful Art Guest Project: Art Journal Page Exist

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing another JMA Art Journal Page project with you all, and I’m totally loving how this page turned out! Let’s get started!

Step 1:

I cut to size some Yupo paper (which is non-porous) so it would fit the pages of my JMA Slimline Art Journal (JMA-ES-JOUR03). Than I played around with some alcohol inks in combination with isopropal alcohol (I used 96%) on the Yupo paper until I created a background that I liked. Work in a well ventilated area while have the alcohol (inks) open!

The particular alcohol inks that I used on today’s project are the Spectrum Noir Reinkers: PL5, PL4 and HB3. I also created splatters using the pure isopropal alcohol in combination with a brush.

Step 2:

Using some craft card stock I used one of the dies in the JMA Decorative Borders (JMA-ES-CD94) die set to die cut three edges, one I cut in half. I adhered the edges onto the alcohol ink background and than adhered this combination onto the actual art journal pages from the journal.

Using the Crealies Reinforcement Shapes (CLJP650) I created some reinforcements also from craft card stock and adhered them on the pages as well.

Step 3:

Now that my base is ready I can work on the focal point: for today’s project I picked the JMA hydrangea stamp set (STAMPJMA07). I love how elegant this stamp looks!

I stamped onto alcohol marker friendly paper using alcohol proof ink and than I coloured the image using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers (mostly Illustrators combined with a few Classique markers). I used the following colours: Classique HB05, Illustrators PV3 and HB1, Classique IB05, Illustraotors in TB1, TB2, TB5, TB6 and TB8, Classique markers in LY05 and DG05, Illustrators in LG1, AG2, LG5, AG4 and JG7.

After the colouring is done I added back in some highlights using a white gel pen and I fussy cut the image.

I also created some splatters on the art journal pages themselves using a Coliro Pearl Colour in “Tibet Gold” in combination with a brush and let that dry on it’s own (Yupo does not respond very well to heat).

Step 4:

Time to put my project together: I die cut a circle shape (using a nesting die set) from craft coloured card stock and adhered the coloured and fussy cut hydrangea image on top using one millimetre thick foam tape. This combination I adhered onto my right hand art journal page.

Using a sticker from the STICKERJMA05 stickerbook, that I adhered onto craft coloured card stock, I completed the left hand page.
