Jenine’s Mindful Art Guest Project: stop thinking too much

Hi everyone, today I would like to share this art journal project with you all and today I’m working in my JMA Slimline Art Journal. Let’s get started!

Step 1:

I picked a white page from my art journal and stamped part of the large image (mainly I tried to leave out the stack of books) from the JMA-WYS-STAMP209 onto this panel using a juicy black ink and heat embossing directly afterwards using clear embossing powder.

I knew I wasn’t going to colour directly onto the journal page using the JMA Light Markers but I wanted to know if it would work to my liking and I must say that I prefer different papers better! I added my teal background colour using a Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Shaker in “Time Travel Teal” : for this I added some of the powder onto the paper, sprayed with water, which makes the colour run and dried with my heat tool when I liked what I had, this I repeated until I was happy.

I also stamped two of the flower images from the same stamp set separately as well as one of the flower images from the JMA-WYS-STAMP208 stamp set, onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface paper, using the same juicy black ink and also directly heat embossing afterwards using clear embossing powder. After fussy cutting the images I next created a watercolour paint using the teal coloured Magical Shaker and coloured in the background using a small brush.

Now I can start colouring the flower images using the JMA Light Markers, for this project I used the following marker colours in combination with a water brush: Deep Cosmos Purple, Peony Deep, Blue Berry, Violet Dark, Golden Yellow and Brown Grey. After the colouring is done and dry I added back in some highlights using a white gel pen.

Step 2:

Here you can see the finished coloured flower images.

Step 3:

I created splatters on the journal page background using a white Posca marker.

I also picked my quote from the STICKERJMA05 stickerbook and adhered the quote onto matching purple card stock.

Step 4:

To finish the project I now only have to adhere the coloured flower images and the quote on top of the page, using one millimetre thick foam tape and liquid glue.
