Jenine’s Mindful Art Guest Project: The Path

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing another Jenine’s Mindful Art Guest Design Project with you all and today’s project is my first art journal page in my new Jenine’s Mindful Art Slimline Journal (JMA-ES-JOUR03)!

Step 1:

I first created an art journal page in the same size the pages included in the journal come in from Clairefontaine Paint On “Grey Green” paper (I just traced the outlines of another page onto the green paper and I also traced the holes). Next I punched the holes in the paper using a screw hole punch tool. Now my base page is ready.

Onto this page I stamped the “Lace Magnolias” from the Warm & Cozy line (JMA-WAC-STAMP107) using black ink. Next I can colour the image and today I’m using a white drawing pencil combined with my Spectrum Noir ColourBlend coloured pencils.

I first map in where my highlights will go. Than I add the colours: Cupid, Mulberry, Passion Fruit, Sage, Cinnamon and Espresso. In the first picture only the first layers are added. In the second picture you can see the final colouring, after adding more and more layers and finally burnishing with the pencils. If you loose a few lines you can trace them with a black fineliner pen, no problem there.

Step 2:

To push the flower more to the front I added some of the white pencil around the magnolias. I created hole reinforcements using the Crealies CLJP650 die set from matching (with the inside of my slimline journal) light craft card stock. I stamped a few times on the background using the script stamp in the JMA-ES-STAMP68 stamp set using Spectrum Noir Water-Reactive “Friar Brown” ink.

Next I used a blending brush in combination with a Spectrum Noir Water-Reactive ink in the colour “Frosty Jade” (which matches the green paper colour) and created a more vintage “used” look on the paper outlines working slightly inwards (and over the script stamp). When I was happy with how it looked I edged the paper with the same brown ink as mentioned before and a little black ink, using a foam applicator tool.

Step 3:

As my finishing touches I first created splatters using a Coliro Pearl Colour in “Moon Gold” in combination with a brush and finally added my quote by picking one from the STICKERJMA05 sticker book from the Time to Relax line, adhered that onto gold mirror card stock and cut that out using my scissors.
