Jenine’s Mindful Art: Guest Project: Three Colour Journal Page

Hi everyone, today I would like to share another art journal page in my JMA Slimline Journal with you all! I love bright colours and I thought it would be fun to create a journal spread using only limited colours! I Picked brown (or craft), black and turquoise (blue) on a white background.

Step 1:

My base will be two of the craft coloured pages that come in the JMA Slimline Journal. From watercolour paper I cut two panels that would fit these pages leaving a bit of room around the edges.

Next I stamped my sentiment in black (this is a Dutch text) using one of the sentiments from the STAMPJMA05 stamp set. I stamped the same text in English using brown ink and created a background pattern on mostly the left hand page with this.

Now I’m going to create a damask pattern on the background of both pages using the JMA Baroque Damask & Script background stamp in combination with Archival Ink in Forget met Not.

Step 2:

Next I stamped on the background using black ink and one of the stamps in the JMA Flower Collages stamp set. I also die cut a black mandala shape using one the dies in the STENCILJMA10 die set.

And I stamped flowers and leaves from the JMA Primrose Elements stamp set: for this I stamped onto watercolour paper using black ink and I heat embossed directly afterwards using clear embossing powder. I fussy cut the images and created a layout that I liked!

Step 3:

Now I can colour the flower and leaf images using the Studio Light markers from the JMA line in combination with a water brush and I used the colours: Brown Grey, Primary Yellow, Baby Blue, Peacock Blue, Sap Green and Black. After the colouring was done I added back in some highlights using a white gel pen.

Step 4:

I adhered the coloured and fussy cut images together using liquid glue and tape, this combination I adhered onto the die cut mandala shape and I added some twine. This combination I adhered onto the left hand side using one millimetre thick foam tape and liquid glue.

I also darkened up the edges of the craft journal pages using brown ink and a foam applicator tool. I distressed the white watercolour paper in some area’s using an edge distresser tool and darkened up these edges using blank ink.

Step 5:

I adhered the white panels onto the craft pages using gel medium using a brush and added a finishing touch using the Crealies CLJP650 Binder Reinforcement die set.
