The Paper Shelter Challenge #473

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing with you this weeks challenge project for The Paper Shelter Design Team and this weeks theme is “Flower Power”. You can find all the details for the current challenge here!

For today’s project I choose a digital image from The Paper Shelter called “Art Nouveau Bloom”.

Step 1:

I felt like creating an art journal page with today’s theme and to get my project started I printed the image onto alcohol marker friendly paper. Next I die cut a square shape around the image using one of my nesting die sets.

Today I’m colouring my image with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol markers in combination with some Spectrum Noir Classique markers:

For skin I used FS7, TN1, TN2 and CR1 (for blush);

For hair I used LG1, AG2, AG4, GG5 and EB8;

For yellow I used: GY05 (Classique), GY1, GY3, GY5, BO4 and EB8;

Branches: RB2 and EB8;

For purple I used: HB05 Classique), HB3 and PL4;

For pinks I used: AP05 (Classique), MG3 and BP6;

For turquoise I used: BT1, BT3, BT6 and BT8.

After the colouring is done I added back in some highlights using a white gel pen and I die cut a slightly larger green square mat and adhered both square panels together using liquid glue.

Step 2:

For my actual art journal pages I cut two pieces of watercolour paper each 14,5 cm x 20 cm in size (eventually I will glue these panels into my art journal album). Onto these panels I applied some shimmer pastes from different brands (Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium in the colours Champagne and Old Rose, as well as Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Paste in Frosty Blossom), over a stencil (this one is TCW5036) using a palette knife and set that aside to dry.

When dry I can pencil in the quote that I want to use on today’s project, first with a graphite pencil and when I like what I have I will go over the lines using a Spectrum Noir ArtLiner pen.

To finish the background I went around the edges using first a yellow ochre coloured inkpad and than a dark brown one and I created splatters using a Pearl Color by Finetec GmbH in “Peacock Blue” using a brush.

Step 3:

Now I only have to adhere both panels into my art journal album using gel medium and a brush (wash the brush well, gel medium acts like a glue) and lastly I adhered the coloured image on top using one millimetre thick foam tape.

And if you enter with a different brand image, you can still win three TPS digis of your choice (which you can then use to enter the next challenge, and so be eligible for the $30 voucher!).

And that is it for today’s project! I wish you a creative day!
