“Grace’s Little Note” with Kennedy Grace Creations

21 Apr 2017

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well!  Today I have my third guest design post for you featuring a stamp set from Kennedy Grace Creations (https://kennedygracecreations.blogspot.nl/)

For this fun and colourful card I started by stamping one of the pretty flowers from the “Grace’s Little Note” stamp set from Kennedy Grace Creations repeatedly with Memento’s “Rich Cocoa” ink on Copic friendly paper. I’m still new at colouring with Copic Markers and I haven’t got many colours at the moment, so I’m working with what I have, learning by doing and blending, blending, blending..... ......

I used the following Copic colours:

For the red flowers I used: R00, R01, R20, R43, R24 and R89;

For the yellow flowers I used: Y000, Y11, Y08 and YR14;

For the greenery I used a variation of greens on both flowers: G40, G43, YG06, YG17, G94 and YG97.

I also used a black Copic Multiliner 0.3 on the hearts of the flowers and created some white lines on the flowers and the leaves to make them more interesting to look at, using a white Gelly Roll pen.

The background was created very easily by stamping one of the sentiments from the “Grace’s Little Note’s” stamp set repeatedly on some crème coloured linen textured card stock that I cut to the right size with a square Crea-Nest-Lies XXL die. I stamped the sentiment with Memento’s “Espresso Truffle”, using second generation stamping. I matted this square on a slightly larger stitched square that I die cut from dark craft card stock.

After the flowers were dry I fussy cut them out by hand using my Fiskars scissors. I also cut out the inner pieces between the leaves and the flowers that I didn’t wanted to show, using a craft knife. I wanted to create a semi-circle of flowers around the sentiment and I thought it would look nice when I would use vellum to stamp the sentiment on. I die cut a circle in the size I wanted from the same dark craft card stock as used before, to use as my base to arrange the flowers around and I die cut the same circle from some vellum (using a My Favorite Things “Stitched Circle STAX” die) and stamped the same sentiment that I used for the background (cut in half) on the vellum with my MISTI and with Memento “Tuxedo Black” ink and carefully dried it with my heat tool.

Next I decided where my sentiment should go on the card, cut of a piece of the dark craft circle, so it lined up with the side of my background square, and folded the vellum circle around the edge and adhered on the back.

And then it’s time to put this card together. I glued both squares together with liquid glued and foam taped them to a crème coloured linen textured base card with one millimetre thick foam tape. Then I adhered the dark craft “cut of circle” piece with the vellum sentiment to my background in the place I wanted with liquid glue. Because the vellum is still loose on the front I can tuck three of the flowers in and adhere them to the card with Ranger Medium Matte. I adhered the vellum to the rest of the card with some see through tape runner and glued the last two flowers on top of the vellum with Ranger Medium Matte.

And that finishes today’s card.

I'm proud to announce that my next card using a Kennedy Grace Creations stamp will be posted by me as part of the full time Design Team of Kennedy Grace Creations. Thank you Michelle for giving me this opportunity!
