Calender Month Series - April

29 Apr 2017

Hi everyone, today I have the fourth instalment of my Calender Month Series for you all! And of course this page is featuring the page for the month April. If you don’t know what this Series is about you can find the first three posts for this series at the end of this post.

The colours given for this page are a pale rose red and a bluish purple (but in the end I used more of a warmer purple because I liked that more).

To start this project I stamped Whimsy Stamps “Peace” onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth surface paper with Versafine “Onyx Black” ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I started colouring with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and my Pentel Aquabrush.

I used the following Zig Markers:

Pale Rose and Deep Red for her shirt and the big flower.

Lilac, Violet and Deep Violet for her pants and the flower in her hair.

Beige, Light Brown and Dark Brown for her hair and her shoes.

Pale Pink for her skin.

May Green, Deep Green and Pale Dawn Gray for the green parts.

Haze Blue around the image.

After finishing the colouring I let the image dry for a bit. Next I die cut her out with one of the circle dies from my circle Crea-Nest-Lies XXL die set. I also die cut a slightly larger circle from matching dark purple card stock and glueing both pieces together with liquid glue.

For my background I wanted to work with a stencil from Winnie & Walter called “The Leaf Effect”. I hand cut a piece of card stock in the same size as the stencil an taped the stencil to the card stock with removable tape. Then I applied Distress Ink in the colour “Victorian Velvet” over the stencil with a foam applicator tool. After removing the stencil I also applies this ink on the edges of my card stock. When I was sure the ink was dry I adhered the (washed) stencil back on but slightly offset this time. Then I applies Nuvo Glimmer Paste in the colour “Moonstone” over that and sat it aside to dry.

In the meantime I started working on the rest of this project: I hand cut a piece of the same dark purple card stock in required size (in my case 19,5 by 15,5 centimetres). After the glimmer paste was dry I adhered that piece to the dark purple background with liquid glue. I found some matching shiny pale rose red ribbon in my stash and wrapped that around both layers and adhered to the back with regular tape. Then I adhered these layers to the calender with one millimetre thick foam tape. On top off that I adhered the stamped image combined with the purple circle with one millimetre thick foam tape.

And then it’s time for the finishing touches: I die cut two sets of dragonflies with one of the dies in the Stampin’Up “Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies” set from some muted rose red card stock. One of the sets I cut in two and removed one dragonfly. Then I edged the dragonflies with Distress Ink in the colour “Aged Mahogany”. I adhered the dragonflies to the project with Ranger Medium Matte. I also put on a couple of flat back purple rhinestones and some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in different sizes in the colour “Metallic Rose Gold” (I love these sequins, they fitted this project so nicely).

And that finishes this beautiful page. I’m really starting to love this calender: looking at each page gives me so much inspiration to create something new!
