Calender Month Series - October

18 Oct 2017

Hi everyone, today I have the tenth Calender Month page in this Series for you all: autumn has arrived here so I thought it would be nice to feature some coloured leaves, and the Whimsy Stamps image called “Oak Tree Boy“ fits this theme nicely as well! This page gives me a light purple and a autumn orangy brown colour to work with.

The Oak Tree Boy image is already pre-coloured so I only had to die cut it in the size that I liked. I adhered the circle with the image on some matching light purple card stock using liquid glue and fussy cut around it using my Fiskars scissors.

Now I can start working on the background. I cut a piece of slightly shimmery white card stock in the right size: for me that’s 15 x 19 centimetres. I have this no name brand embossing folder, featuring leaves, that’s obviously smaller then the paper that I wanted to emboss, but since I wanted to put the image on top you can’t see the edge where the two embossed parts meet on the left hand side: I ran the card stock with the embossing folder through the die cutting machine twice, once from each end, not overlapping the pattern that’s already there. The top and bottom edge that comes short (because the embossing folder is not as wide as the paper) got a little wrinkly but I kind of liked that distressed look, so I went with it.

I looked for some matching ribbon in my stash and wrapped that around twice, adhering it on the back using regular tape.

I adhered this panel on my calender page using one millimetre thick foam tape and then I adhered the image with the purple mat on top also using one millimetre thick foam tape, leaving space around the edge to tuck under the leaves that I will make next.

I really feel that these leaves make this calender page fabulous, they are really easy to make and create a very autumny feel for this page: I stamped with three of the leaf images from the Hero Arts “Scattering Leaves“ stamp set onto white card stock using the following inks. Gina K by Therm-O-Web ink in the colour “Red Velvet“, Versafine “Crimson Red”, Archival Ink in the colour “Leaf Green“, Memento Ink in the colour “Northern Pine“. By changing the inks per leaf I created a bit of variation that makes them very lively. I used my MISTI to stamp the leafs, adding colour until I liked the result. After stamping the leaves I fussy cut them out using my Fiskars scissors and then I put VersaMark ink on the top and clear heat embossed afterwards. This makes the leaves a bit shiny.

When all the leaves are ready I tucked them under and over the image and adhered them with foam tape and 3D kit. And to finish this month’s page I adhered some enamel dots in a matching green colour to bring back in some of the green from the Oak Tree Boy image.

I feel this page turned out really nice and I love how my Calender project is turning into an awesome piece to decorate my craft room with!

I wish you all a creative day!
