New Beginnings!

22 May 2018

Hi everyone, today I’m showing you my take on the May Challenge for “Het SU-per Team“ (this is a Dutch Facebook challenge group managed by a team of Stampin‘Up demonstrators, so you have to use at least one Stampin‘Up item on your project).

This month’s challenge is a particular card design that you have to create, it looks like a staircase.

So, I started my card with a sheet of sturdy kraft card stock from which I cut and folded the card design as shown in the challenge specifications.

Then I created the two layers that come on top of the kraft coloured card stock: the back layer is created from teal coloured card stock from my stash and the front layer is created from Stampin‘Up “Bubbles & Fizz“ Designer Series Paper (the small squares on the sides (you can see them in one of the detail pictures) are also from this DSP).

I edged the kraft coloured card stock using Archival Ink in the colour “Coffee“, the teal coloured card stock with Color Box ink in the colour “Abyss“ and the Bubbles & Fizz paper with Distress Ink in the colour “Abandoned Coral“ (using a foam applicator tool).

Then I stamped the house image from the Stamping Bella stamp set called “Fairy Garden House“ onto some Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface paper using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink and I clear heat embossing afterwards. I coloured the image using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a Pentel Aquabrush. I used the following colours of Zig Markers: Light Carmine, Red, Lemon Yellow, Light Green, Turquoise Green, Persian Green, Brick Beige and Haze Blue. When the colouring was done and dry I fussy cut the image using my Fiskars scissors.

I also stamped the sentiment from this Stamping Bella stamp set in the same way and I die cut around it using one of the dies in the Stampin‘Up “Lots of Labels“ die set.

Next I stamped nine flowers with the Stampin‘Up “Petite Petals“ stamp set on the same paper as the house image and I coloured the flowers with the reddish and tealish Zig Markers that I used on the house. I used the coordinating Stampin‘Up Petite Petals punch to punch out the flowers.

Now that all the elements are ready I can put my card together: I adhered the Bubbles & Fizz pieces to the teal coloured pieces using liquid glue, then I wrapped some Stampin‘Up “Bermuda Bay“ ribbon around these combined panels and adhered at the back using regular tape. This combination I adhered to the kraft coloured card base using liquid glue. Next I’m adding the die cut sentiment and the fussy cut house image on top using one millimetre thick foam tape.

To finish my card I now only have to adhere seven of the flowers on the sentiment panel and two of the flowers on the little square parts (visible in the detail picture)!

And that’s if for today’s fun and different card project!

I wish you a creative day!
