Hi everyone, today I’m on The Crafter’s Workshop blog with another art journal page, this one is a bit more tranquil then my usual colourful ones, but I love it nonetheless!
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.
I started my project by creating some fun A4 sized mono prints using a gelatine printing plate and the following colours of paints: GelliArts “Snowbound”, “Freshwater” and “Jet Black”. I used a brayer to spread the paint on the plate and for the background design I used a The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Garden Gate” (TCW382s) which is the perfect stencil for this peaceful page. Since I really liked the edges of the prints that I created I didn’t wanted to cut them of. So, next I choose the journal that would fit the size of the paper, the colours and the design best (it’s a blank kraft coloured journal by Canvas Corp Brands).
I cut the prints to the size that I liked and then distressed the edges using an edge distresser (but you can also use your scissors).
To create the text on the pages I combined two different The Crafter’s Workshop stencils: “Follow Joy” (TCW843s) and “In my Heart” (TCW841s). On the left hand page I started with Follow Your and then finished on the right hand page with Heart. I applied two colours of The Crafter’s Workshop Metallic Modeling Paste over the stencils using a palette knife and mixing the colours on the page. For this I used “Antique Gold” and “Grecian Gold”. I set my pages aside to dry and when I dry I traced the heart design with a white Gelly Roll Pen to make it stand out a slightly bit more from the background.
My left hand page is lighter then my right hand page so next I’m working on creating a bit more interest on that side: I placed the same Garden Gate stencil that I used on the gelatine plate before over the page and applied VersaMark Ink (which is a sticky ink) over the stencil using a foam applicator tool (wash your stencil afterwards).
Then I applied some Lindy’s Stamp Gang embossing powder in “Desert Moon Turquoise” over the sticky ink and after tapping of the excess I heated it with my heat gun. This creates an awesome tone of tone effect on the background!
I used the same technique but then with another The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Micro Hearts” (TCW791s) on different parts of both pages (I choose this particular stencil to repeat the heart design from the text I already had).
On a separate piece of paper I then applied two different colours of The Crafter’s Workshop Metallic Modeling Paste over part of the Follow Joy stencil that I used before to create the flower shape you can see in the picture. I used “Sterling Silver” and “Platinum”. Let that dry.
When dry I fussy cut the flower image so that it’s ready to adhere to my project.
I splattered on both pages using Coliro Pearl Colors by FineTec GmbH in the colour “Bronze” to create some added interest to my background and, after drying, adhered the flower image on top using The Crafter’s Workshop “Matte Gel Medium” and a brush.
Now the only thing I have to do is to adhere both pages to the journal, also using the same Matte Gel Medium (wash the brush afterwards).

And that’s it for today’s fun art journal project!
